Green, low-carbon, and high-quality development conference: Wanhua Chemical's green development adds new practices!

On August 28th, the Green, Low Carbon, and High Quality Development Conference jointly hosted by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the China Association for Science and Technology, and the Shandong Provincial People's Government was grandly held in Yantai Bajiaowan. Mr. Kou Guangwu, President of Wanhua Chemical Group Co., Ltd., gave a keynote speech at the conference on "Cultivating a Low Carbon Circular Industrial Chain and Realizing Sustainable and High Quality Development", sharing Wanhua Chemical's practice in green and low-carbon areas.

At the meeting, Mr. Kou introduced the necessity of green transformation for enterprises, stating that the transition from "dual control of energy consumption" to "dual control of carbon emissions" is becoming a key driver leading green transformation. The "dual control of carbon emissions" is not only the direction of green development, but also to empower enterprises with sustainable development rights. New energy, creating new driving force for carbon reduction


Optimizing the energy structure through the development of new energy is an important measure to achieve sustainable development. Wanhua Chemical achieves a social increase in clean electricity by investing in new energy sources such as offshore wind power, onshore wind power, complementary agriculture and solar power, complementary fishing and solar power, and nuclear power. According to equity ratio, it can obtain 32.4 billion kilowatt hours of equity electricity, achieving full coverage of clean electricity in Wanhua Chemical's China Industrial Park, and assisting in the low-carbon transformation of the enterprise.

New device, achieving new breakthroughs in efficiency and energy conservation


Wanhua Chemical promotes energy conservation and emission reduction in the park through device optimization and the application of new catalysts. Recently, the largest nitric acid plant in China has settled in Wanhua Chemical Fujian Industrial Park. Through energy-saving designs such as reducing nitrous oxide emissions and converting steam to electricity, a single unit has achieved an annual emission reduction of nearly one million tons.


New technology, moving towards a new realm of green and efficient production


The company continuously explores new processes to achieve green and efficient production. Significant results have been achieved by continuously reducing the energy consumption of a single product through dual upgrades of device and process development. Compared to 2006, the energy consumption per ton of MDI has decreased by 90%, and it is planned to decrease by 50% on this basis by 2024.


New recycling, new peak of resource regeneration


At the same time, we practice the concept of sharing energy-saving achievements with relevant parties, recycling and reusing the production waste heat of Wanhua Chemical Yantai Industrial Park, and jointly achieving green circulation with surrounding enterprises and cities in the park. Through this technology, Wanhua Chemical Yantai Industrial Park can save about 2.6 million tons of coal annually, achieving a perfect combination of energy-saving technology for chemical plants and low-grade thermal energy technology for civilian use.
